The Real World

My apologies for not posting last night. I was a dump and completely forgot to do it after I got home from my buddies house last night and was watching the Reds. I realized that I didn't post when I laid down to go to sleep, and then decided it wasn't worth it to get up and do it at 1 a.m.

Anyways, today was extremely busy. Productive, but busy. It also made me cope with the realization that as much as I might not want it to happen I am becoming more and more of a part of the real world with each passing day.

After waking up at 8 and starting my day with Kashi and Sportscenter I trekked across the street to my neighbors place to the pile of mulch that awaited me. The day before I had spent an hour digging a new post hole for his overhanging on his back porch that had rotted away and then put it in the hole and filled the rest of it with dirt. He had told me that he had mulch on its way at some point that day and asked if I would be willing to spread it around his place. I answered yes of course, and waited and waited until they delivered it. Naturally, i didn't come until around 5 and I made the executive decision to wait until today to do it because it was too close to dinner time. One of my best friends from high school came over and we went to Harrison's (local Tipp City restaurant) for wing night. Mother was at a hair appointment so she had given me the OK to engorge on some wings.

They were delicious, because it had been quite some time since I had them and they were only 35 cents apiece. Gotta love wing nights. Plus it was great to catch up with my friend who had not seen in months. Missed him.

Anywho, as I was spreading mulch this morning I found myself thinking about how much life is going to change in the near future. College is already going extremely fast, and I'm hoping to have an internship next summer that helps me in the future and then who knows what is going to happen. Classes are going to get harder, and life will change as I am living off-campus next year. Then I started pondering the idea that in 3 (possibly 4 depending on the circumstances) years I'm going to be looking for a "real" job like my sister is right now after I graduate, and it just feels weird. I think I started thinking about this today because I had a job interview at Meijer Distribution Center at 12:15 and after going to it I had to go to Englewood for a drug test and it was all on my shoulders to get there on time and have all the necessary paperwork ready. It is just weird-I'm not saying bad by any means-that I have the increased responsibilities and if I don't take care of things then it's my ass. And it's all my fault. Nobody else's.

After my interview and all that hoopla I finished the mulching (dodging the rain in the process) and got paid. Always nice to have a little money in your pocket just in case. Another instance of the real world came up though when I was looking at my most recent bank statement and the balance of my account. It's amazing how quickly your money goes away when you're at college. I need to save up so much its unreal. Luckily, if I get the job at Meijer (which I should) I'll be making really good money and even though the work is going to suck it'll be worth it I think.

On a lighter note, the Reds completed a three game sweep of the Dodgers today out west. I hope they can keep the momentum into the weekend for their next two series against AL powers Toronto and New York. Fingers crossed!

DeShawn Stevenson of the Mavericks was arrested yesterday morning, which is funny it itself because it simply makes sense. Was only a matter of time with him, but my new background is him in the shirt he was wearing after the Mavericks beat the Heat. I hope you enjoy it.

I'll leave you with this: enjoy the cool weather that we have right now, because rumor has it that the humidity is going to pick up. And oh, I'm still undefeated in the college football online dynasty with my friends. ManBearPig (my QB) is really coming into his own and we just dominated #2 Alabama yesterday. You could say I'm gearing up for a back to back national title chance. Go UAB!
