Contacts>Glasses
For all of you who have bad eyes, whether it because of astigmatism, nearsightedness, farsightedness, or any other problem that can occur in the eye. I feel your pain, as I have been wearing glasses since the third grade. I'll never forget that conversation with my parents. They told me after a day of school that I was going to go to the eye doctor to get my eyes checked out. I really did not want to, which was stupid because it showed how oblivious I was to common sense because I didn't even realize that I had just finished telling them the day before that I could not see the board in math class unless I was like three feet away. Not really wanting to go, I sucked it up and made the trek into the unknown with my mom the next day.
Ever since then, and maybe this is weird, but I have always loved getting my eyes checked. That is, unless it is under a circumstance where I have an infection or something similar. I do not know why I like getting my eyes looked at, but my best theory is that I always know that I'm going to leave there being able to see better than I did when I walked in.
I'll never forget the day that I got my first pair of glasses. It was like being born again. As cliche as that sounds, it's the truth. I noticed so many things in the world then ever before and it was awesome.
After many incidents involving broken glasses, RECSPECS sports goggles (youth baseball and basketball swag) we decided it was time to maybe try contacts. This major step in my life was made in about the 6th grade, around Christmas time if I remember right. Those things hurt so bad when I first tried to put them in my eye, and I honestly thought it was a bad idea because I looked like the biggest goon trying to insert these little plastic things into my head. I worked past it though and have never looked back.
Don't get me wrong, I love my glasses for many reasons. They are a nice relief from contacts, make me look studious at times, and always good to fall back on if something goes awry with your contacts. But contacts are so much better. I say this because it wasn't until today that I realized it. For about a two week period I could not wear my contact lenses, and having glasses on really hinders a lot of things. Most of all though, it makes working out difficult. This is because if you are working up a good sweat, you can't really avoid getting sweat on your glasses and/or them fogging up. Hence annoying. And don't even think about playing basketball. That's the worst. And that is what drove me crazy the most. I hate not being able to play and it really eats at me. No worries though, I played some open gym tonight for the first time in a good while, and it was very refreshing.
Mother Nature served up wonderful weather for us today, and even though I spent the majority of it inside (thank you class and econ readings/homework) it was pleasant to walk in. I hope it keeps up. And wouldn't ya know it, the Reds got one tonight. Thanks to two 2-run home runs from Jay Bruce (dare I say, all-star?) and reigning MVP Joey Votto they beat the Milwaukee Brewers 4-3. Hopefully this is a sign of good things to come.
Two more days of classes-yippee!!

Oh and by the way, they finally fixed the problem and I now have the ability to change my background again. It is Ohio State right now as you can see, because I want to show support for my school during these tough times, but be prepared for mass changes in the near future.
