I was right.
So in my last post I know you all remember me talking about my new job that I started yesterday and how it was going to be cold, physical and suck a lot.
I was right.
I spent the majority of my day with three other fellas who were in orientation with me along with my supervisor going through step by step what I am going to be doing for the next two and a half months. I had a lot of questions answered as well as a lot more that came about. This job is all about speed. Speed referring to how quickly I can move up and down each aisle and stack the products on my skids in such a way that they are efficient and won't fall off. Each "pick" (the list of products that I am sent out to retrieve and drop off at the truck's specific loading dock) has its own allotted time for how long it should take me to get all of it. That is going to be the toughest part, no doubt about it. If it is supposed to take you fifteen minutes and you take thirty, then your rate is 50%. After 60 days, my average rate has to be at least 95%. The best rate I had yesterday was 55%. Difficult. And to use Twitter lingo: #onlygoingtogetbetterwithtime.
I finished at about 10:30 last night, came home and was very tired as you might understand so that is why this post is not up until this morning. I have a feeling that this might quickly become my newest routine.
In sporting news, the NFL lockout is still on and I'm simply getting sick and tired of hearing about it. Because Green Bay is the Super Bowl champion, they have been under the magnifying the entire summer. The latest installment in news about them has been how Aaron Rodgers has not scheduled and ran the so called "voluntary workouts" with the rest of the team. I understand that every team is going to be behind this season simply because they are used to going through off-season workouts and OTAs and all that. But come on. I'm sick and tired of hearing about how Rodgers isn't doing anything. I know that they should be, but give them a bit of a break so they can enjoy the fact that they are Super Bowl champs. No matter what, every team is not going to be as sharp this year towards the beginning because they won't have that added time to get their timing to where it needs to be. I know they don't have anything else to talk about in sports world regarding football but let it go please.
The NBA CBA ends tonight at midnight as well, so it looks like two of the most popular sports in the United States of America will be under lockout. Fans are going to be in a lurch for the next few months. Sucks.
The Reds pulled out a win yesterday against the Rays, and won that series two games to one. I can't remember when they won their last series, so that is rather exciting. They're 42-40 and sit two and a half games behind the Milwaukee Brewers in the NL Central. Still a chance at it, and I'm going to remain faithful.
Keep it real, I've gotta go mow grass and get ready to move product again. Yippee.
