Premature Frustration
Alright, so my bad Dirk. My bad.
In my last post I was extremely frustrated about Game 2 of the NBA Finals as I was watching it and of course it came back to make me look like a fool. Or at least Dirk and the Mavs made me look like a fool.
As I said in the previous fortnight, Dallas was down by 15 with about 4 minutes to go and I had written them off. I had it in my head that it was just going to be another boring Finals with the superstars getting the championship rather easily, because if you go up 2-0 in a series your chances of winning it increase by a whole bunch.
But slowly Dallas crawled back in the game, inch by inch, bucket by bucket, and Miami threw it away. They finally made some shots and got some stops, even though it looked like for the entire game that Miami wasn't going to be stopped because they were pulling a Blake Griffin and getting dunk after dunk after dunk. I think they finished with nine in all, but down the stretch they simply quit scoring, and LeBron was forced to take some really bad shots.
Of course the game culminated with Dirk sealing it, with one of those patented head fakes on a drive to the left (the hand he had torn a finger ligament in the game before) and rolling the go ahead and eventual game winning two points over Chris Bosh.
Wade had a chance to win it at the buzzer, with a running shot from about 30 feet out but it missed and there was much rejoicing on the Dallas side. The Heat had a foul to give, which I'm not sure why they did not elect to use on the final possession to bust up the play Dallas had drew up, but of course it's easy to say that now after the game.
The series now shifts to Dallas at a 1-1 tie, and I gotta tell ya, advantage Mavericks. Three games there makes for plenty of possible moments for Dirk and Co. to win and end the series. That's a little bit of wishful thinking, but I really do not want the Heat to win.
In other news, studying for finals began today, the last day of classes for my freshman year. Going to be a glorious weekend, and I cannot wait to spend it with my nose in my books. But I'm taking tonight to go see the 4th (and hopefully final) installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean series. Sure hope it's not a big waste of time and money for me. I'll let you know my thoughts on it in the future.
Thank you and GO REDLEGS. The Dodgers are in town, and Cincy really needs a sweep when Matt Holliday is on the DL and not providing protection to Albert Pujols in St. Louis' lineup.
