What a Weekend

So my last post was naturally all about Harry Potter, and with good reason. I was about to go see the final installment of the movie series, and I haven't been back on here since that night.

I was originally a little hesitant to go see the movie at the midnight showing, for the sole fact that I know I was going to be exhausted from work that day and then had to go to work the following day. But it was worth it. The movie was amazing, and I cannot help buy give it an A in my book. They seemingly followed the book right up to the end, with the Epilogue being 19 years in the future when Harry and Ginny got married as well as Ron and Hermione. The special effects were naturally really well done, which was expected because of the way technology is these days. I enjoyed every minute of it, and the fact that I got home and to bed at 3 am makes it that much better. Living the dream.

That was just the kickoff to a great weekend, and even though I had to work Friday and Saturday I got off early Saturday night. This was a pleasant surprise because I had in my plans to go to West Chester to visit some friends from school and celebrate both my birthday and my roommate's birthday because his is six days before mine. I had a great time, and maybe just a little too much fun seeing as how yesterday was absolutely painful. I felt terrible, and I have no one to blame but myself.

My Sunday was spent at my aunt and uncle's house in Huber Heights for a surprise half-birthday party for my 85 year old grandmother. As you can probably figure out, her birthday is around Christmas time and always gets lost in the shuffle that is the Christmas season. In the typical Seger way, her offspring all planned this shindig as a comforting hurrah to get everyone (or try to) in my extended family together in the summertime. Grandma was happy to see everyone that could make it, even though there were some who could not because of prior obligations. I made it there a little later than what I said I was going to, so that naturally did not make my parents too pleased with me, but hey. I was there. That's gotta count for something. As I said I did not feel the best, and the fact that it was hot and humid outside certainly did not help matters. I was a dump all day, even after I came home from the party. I just laid on the couch and watched a movie with my best friend and older sister. We then played some NCAA 2012 because it is an unbelievable game. So you could say I just had a pretty lazy Sunday-but it was much needed.

Shout out to the U.S. Women's National team, who unfortunately came up short in the World Cup Final yesterday afternoon to Japan. They lost 3-1 in penalty kicks, which was difficult to watch because of how they were ahead the majority of the game and Japan came from behind late both in regulation and extra time to tie it. But they played a great tournament and brought some life to the sport as a whole. Go America.

And wouldn't you know it, the Reds won a series against the Cardinals. A 3-1 victory sealed the series victory and got them within 3 1/2 games of first place in the logjammed National League Central. Hopefully they can get something going here in late July. They need to start tonight as they travel to first place (yes I said first place) Pittsburgh to take on those scrappy Pirates.

That's pretty much my weekend in a nutshell, back to the grind today and my own personal hell-hole Meijer Distribution Center. Yahoo.
