Things To Look Forward To

It has been quite a while since my phalanges and metacarpels have graced this site, and I know that I have been lazy and for that I apologize. I'm just trying to enjoy my summer as best as I can when I'm not spending it in the freezer that is Meijer Distribution Center.

Anyways, when I woke up yesterday morning I said to myself that this week was going to suck, I was going to hate my life, and that a week such as this was going to rear its ugly head at me for the rest of my time here in the 937. It was not a very good feeling coming to this realization, and that was when I realized that my pessimism isn't really needed especially seeing as how I'm going to head back to the greatest school in the world in two months.

Of course this didn't come without some positive reinforcement. This came in and has continued to come in stages, and it's wonderfully appreciated. The first stage was a simple text message from a random source. I did not recognize the number at all, as it was only five numbers long. After opening it and reading it though, I quickly engraved it in my mind. It was a text from GameStop, the popular video game store where you can buy, sell, and trade old video games, systems, and accessories either for cash or store credit to other things in the store. The text was a reminder for me to go to the closest GameStop near me, in Huber, and pick up my reserved copy of NCAA Football 2012. I had remembered that I had reserved it, but in the midst of school ending and starting my new job I simply forgot when it was coming out. Fittingly, it came out today, the 12th of July so I could go pick it up at 12:01 this morning. So after a not so horrible night at work, my sister and I took the trip over to Huber Heights to stand in line and get it.

And let me tell you, it was well worth it. I mean this game is amazing. So much better graphics, so much more realistic, and so many other things you can do in the game that you never could before. What I mean by that is that there are a boatload of other options for game types you can utilize that I've never seen before. I played it a lot today and am really disappointed that I have to work the rest of the week and can't just sit on my rear end and play it.

The next stage of excitement for me was getting another text message from a friend that I graduated with asking me to go to Sno Shack just to catch up. We did so, then started discussing Harry Potter. Now, the latest and last installment of the HP movie series comes out this Friday but of course I did not remember that date either. I am realizing more and more how I'm really not good at remembering dates in the summer. But my friend and I decided to search for a pair of tickets for the midnight premiere of the movie this Thursday night/Friday morning. Although we did not find a 12:01 showing with available tickets we did find two tickets for the 12:20 showing. I simply can't wait to see it, because after seeing the first part of the Deathly Hallows during school earlier this year all I've wanted to do is see the last part right when it comes out as well. Now I'm going to get to do that.

On top of all that, this Saturday night marks the date for the joint birthday party that is being thrown for both myself and roommate at one of my buddy's houses. It's going to be great seeing everyone who we have invited to come (hoping that they do show up) and having a little bit of fun with them. It most assuredly is going to give me something else to look forward to at the end of my work week, which I will be diving into the heart of tomorrow until Saturday night. I just really hope I do not have to work on Sunday.

So, as you can see I have quite a bit going on in my life that I am able to look forward to. Sure, it has costed me some money and I need to stop spending and start conserving more and more of my money for school, but I had a conversation with a cousin of mine earlier today. He recently graduated from OSU this spring, and he told me that no matter what happens when you're in college, don't be afraid to do things. Within in reason of course. Don't be afraid to go on that road trip, go see that movie, or go out on the town that night. Because, he said, this is the only time in your life that you're going to be able to and have enough energy to do that. College has many experiences in itself, but there is more to it to be had. You just have to go out and do it to the best of your ability. I'm planning on taking it to heart and being smart about what I do, but also live it up!

The All-Star game just ended as well, and for the second year in a row the National League came through with the victory, winning by a score of 5-1. The Reds who played (Joey Votto, Jay Bruce, Brandon Phillips, and late addition Scott Rolen) did absolutely nothing at the plate, going a combined 0-6 with three strikeouts, but that's ok. They all provided strong defense and helped the National League gain home-field advantage for the World Series come October.

That's it for now, back to work tomorrow with the thoughts of fun things in my head that are coming for the rest of the week.
