Eye infection+Econ midterm=salty start to the weekend
Before I get into everything that I want/need to say that's been going on the past few days, I'd like to apologize for the lasting hiatus. It was not solely my fault-I'll contribute it to what I am going to describe soon as well as enjoying the glorious weather outside today. Again I am sorry and I trust it will never happen again.
So this past Thursday I had an economics midterm-my last one for the quarter both for that class as well as the quarter in general. You could say I was excited to take it as I laid my head down to sleep Wednesday night, but then I woke up. I could barely open my left eye and as I looked in the mirror before going to my 8:30 class I noticed that it was completely bloodshot and watering like crazy. It hurt quite a lot, and trying to take a test (any test) with only one eye (I couldn't open it very much because it was rather light sensitive) is god awful I must say. I wouldn't wish it on anyone at all.
Adding that in to the fact that I had to take an econ midterm (can't stand that class anymore), my weekend didn't exactly start off the way I wanted it to. I had heard that the weather was finally going to cooperate (which it did-today and yesterday was rather enjoyable) so I was looking forward to spending some quality Broval time and savoring one of the final weekends of my freshman year. It's rather scary to know that in less than three weeks I'll be home-back in the good ole 937-and will be a sophomore in college. It honestly feels like I just went thru my high school graduation ceremony. Nuts.
I still am enjoying my 2nd to last weekend of fun (the weekend after week 10 doesn't count due to studying for finals) but the fact that I have to insert drops in my eyes numerous times throughout the day really puts a damper on things. But what are you gonna do-crap like this happens. I guess I should just be grateful that it did not happen during finals week. Probably the worst thing about it all is that I cannot wear my contacts until at least Monday. For everyone out there who wears contacts, you know exactly what I'm saying. Glasses are a nice release from time to time, but having them on 24/7 makes me wonder how I even dealt with it back in those days before 7th grade when I got contacts. I feel sorry for all of you who are unable to wear contacts because you're really missing out on the world.
Other than that, there really isn't much else going on in my life that is too exciting. Besides the fact that the Reds are simply laying eggs everywhere in Cleveland. Look, I know the Indians are a first place team, but honestly they should not have won either one of the games so far in the weekend series. Friday night Travis Wood had a no hitter through 5 innings before completely blowing up and walking everyone in addition to hitting one batter to force in a run and then having the bullpen make things worse. So frustrating to watch when you live with someone from Believeland. And today was even more disappointing. I'm started to question Rusty-excuse me Dusty-Baker's decision making/managerial decisions. Both pitchers today were on there game, so noticing that you should think ok hey, one or two runs is going to when this game. I need to figure out a way to manufacture a run i.e. if you get the leadoff man on (aka both the 8th and 9th innings) have someone bunt him over or at least hit the ball somewhere where they can advance 90 feet closer to scoring. Have a guy steal. Do something. Please. I beg of you. Oh and Jonny Gomes? Absolutely love the guy and the way he plays and his background, but get him out of the lineup. He went 0-4 today with 3 strikeouts and is batting an abysmal .171. You have Chris Heisey and Fred Lewis, two guys who are more than capable of doing the job. Come on Dusty. Come on. We are here to defend a division title. Please make some of the tough decisions. But what do I know. I'm just a college kid who isn't getting paid the big bucks like he is. Whatever. I'll just vent to myself.
Have a wonderful rest of the weekend, and cheer on the Redlegs so that they can possibly get one tomorrow.
Proud Buckeye and Frustrated Reds Fan,
Eric Seger
