Can we please finally play a softball game?

So as I sat down to write this post I thought back on my Tuesday and wondered what I should put on here. I really am sick and tired of hearing about Tressel, Pryor and the Buckeyes who are continuing to screw up and make our football program and university look like a bunch of scrubs, so I'm going to try my best to steer clear of saying much about it anymore. If you want the information, turn on ESPN. That's all they're talking about. All I'm going to say is that no matter what happens, I still go to the best school in the country. At the beginning of Spring quarter I signed up for my scholars program's intramural softball team for two reasons: 1. It'd been a while since I busted out my cleats and glove and swung a bat and missed playing and 2. I wanted to help Mount win the scholars cup by winning some games. I was rather excited about it, and after seeing who all was on the team (it is co-ed, and our girls were pretty legit athletes so I was excited (that'...

We Will Be Back

Memorial Day weekend brought a little bit of everything for me this year. I stayed on campus Friday and Saturday, and came home on Sunday for a couple of graduation parties and got in some much needed chill time with two of my best friends in the ManCave. The grad parties were ya know, grad parties. Can't complain about the free food and seeing some people that I hadn't seen in a while to catch up. Last night was great-nothing beats being with those guys and killing Zombies-nothing. As I awoke on this Monday, it was with a weird taste in my mouth. No, I didn't do anything stupid last night I promise, but the weird taste was after checking my phone and looking at numerous text messages from ESPN telling me that Jim Tressel has resigned as the coach of The Ohio State Buckeyes football team. I know that many of you are expecting this post to be all lovey dovey on Tressel because I'm a Buckeye and all Buckeye fans do is talk about how awesome our program is. I'm here to...

The Last Real Weekend of Freshman Year

As I get the ball rolling on this Friday entry, I apologize for not constructing an entry last night. Yesterday was a rather long day for Eric, made possible by me being an idiot and staying up until 2 a.m. Wednesday night watching the Reds suck and lose a game to a position player (Wilson Valdez) in the 19th inning. My alarm rang at 7:45 the next morning because I needed to be to my 8:30 class extra early due to the fact that my group was presenting our final presentation and wanted to meet early to run through it one last time before showtime. Naturally, only me and the Asian member (not being racist I promise) showed up on time, so I could have gotten 15 minutes more of sleep, but what would that do for me anyways. The presentation went well, and after attending two more classes yesterday, working out, and an eye appointment, I was sleepy. I chilled for a while and then just fell asleep before realizing that I did not blog all day. I hope you can forgive me. Anyways, today (or yeste...

Construction, new found social media, and Brandon Phillips blowing up

So, today brought many things to my life. New information, a social media tool, and some good ole clownin'. As many of you know, Wednesday night at NOCO is immortalized as Pasta Night. For those that don't, this a day that all North Campusians look forward to and enjoy quite a bit. It is when NOCO (North Commons-Traditions Dining) presents its best meal by far, with a buffet of pasta with various sauces and meatballs, cheese lasagna, and the always delicious chicken tenders. I am not a regular attendee by any means, but I do enjoy it from time to time, for the sheer fact that it is eat as much as you can for your swipe. I invited one of my cousins with me to NOCO this eve, because I figured the big guy could use a free fill up and I love talking with the guy because he's the man. He is graduating after this quarter, and I have to admit I will miss having him around for multiple reasons. Anyways, he is graduating with a degree in construction management, so needless to say h...

And this one belongs to the Reds!

Hooray! The Reds finally broke through against those fightin' Phils. Or against anyone for that matter. I mean honestly this whole losing-and losing by a lot-was getting really old. But they finally earned a W tonight, thanks to a Jay Bruce 3-run double in the top of the 9th with two outs. The final was 6-3 as good ole Coco Cordero just came in and mowed 'em over. This should come to the many delights of Reds fans everywhere because after winning five straight Cincinnati had dropped six in a row and needed a win in the worst way. Johnny Cueto pitched fairly well, but did not get a decision but I'm sure he won't mind because he knows as well as everyone else in the clubhouse how badly his squad needed a win. In other Reds beat news, my father informed me tonight that Edinson Volquez was sent down to AAA Louisville today. At first I was kind of confused about it, so I inquired why. He said that GM Walt Jocketty said in a statement that he needed to go get command of his f...

Marketplace: so much closer when its not raining

Alright, I'm going to be perfectly honest with you all on this one: if you don't go to The Ohio State University, or have never visited (and when I say visited I mean stayed over a night and ate with someone during the day) you more than likely will have no idea what in the world I'm going to talk about right now. As for all my fellow Buckeyes who may read this, including the two that I enjoyed a delightful dinner at Marketplace with tonight, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. So needless to say, proceed at your own risk. If you think you'll get bored or annoyed or anything of that nature, here is something else you can do to entertain yourself. Ok, so first off let me start by saying that being a member of North Campus has both its positives and negatives, much like every other living place on campus. The positives are (from the way I see them) as follows: close to essentially all the main buildings where classes are, close to High St. and Lane Ave., ...

Winding down freshman year

With each passing day, I can't help but try to fathom the idea that in less than 3 weeks (18 days to be exact) I'll no longer be a freshman in college. It's a pretty incredible thought, seeing as how it feels like I just left good ole high school. Sure don't miss high school but still, it's crazy. As I sit here and think about the past 8+months of my life, I'd like to give a shout out to everyone who I have shared my first year of college experience with-from everyone to my roommates to other people who live in my dorm to those weird creepy guys who talk to you on High Street at 3 a.m. and ask for some of your Cane's. Without you, freshman year just wouldn't have been the same. The relationships I've made, kept, and am still developing have helped me realize what's really important in life and when is the right time to do some things and when is the wrong time for others to happen. They say that everything is downhill after your freshman year, an...

Eye infection+Econ midterm=salty start to the weekend

Before I get into everything that I want/need to say that's been going on the past few days, I'd like to apologize for the lasting hiatus. It was not solely my fault-I'll contribute it to what I am going to describe soon as well as enjoying the glorious weather outside today. Again I am sorry and I trust it will never happen again. So this past Thursday I had an economics midterm-my last one for the quarter both for that class as well as the quarter in general. You could say I was excited to take it as I laid my head down to sleep Wednesday night, but then I woke up. I could barely open my left eye and as I looked in the mirror before going to my 8:30 class I noticed that it was completely bloodshot and watering like crazy. It hurt quite a lot, and trying to take a test (any test) with only one eye (I couldn't open it very much because it was rather light sensitive) is god awful I must say. I wouldn't wish it on anyone at all. Adding that in to the fact that I had t...

Dealing with one of life's all important questions

So today after mercifully being released five minutes early from my history class-my third class of the day-the only thing that was on my mind was that I needed to play some basketball. I had to burn off some steam from sitting in class all day long prior to that point and all I wanted to do was shoot. It has been raining literally all. Day. Long. There was about a two hour period where all it did was sprinkle a little bit but that's about it. I used that two hour block to mount my Huffy 3 Speed and head to the RPAC in hopes of some good ball. For those of you who are not aware of the Huffy 3 Speed I speak of, I encourage you to click the link above for the simple fact that the thing is sexy. Complete with a luggage rack on the back of it and one of if not THE most comfortable bike seats known to man, my dad found this little beauty at a garage sale at the end of this past summer. He got a sweet deal on it for me and I couldn't be more proud to ride it around campus. I took th...

Ohio. It's May 16th.

The first thought that went through my mind as I was starting my day with some Lucky Charms and Sportscenter was why does Ohio weather suck so much? Like seriously. It's May 16th. I walked to my first class at 1030 with a jacket and jeans on and needed an umbrella. Needless to say I'm sick of this crap. I know a few days ago I was hyped-maybe a little too hyped that the weather was actually nice and that I got to go enjoy Oval Beach-and this is Mother Nature bringing me back down from Cloud Nine. But come on man. It's the middle of May for goodness sakes! I've always been firmly against the idea of global warming. I'm not saying it doesn't exist but I guess just holding on to the slim hope that the weather we have experienced in recent years is a result of some natural cycle the Earth goes through. The longer and longer I live though the more it is becoming a realization. I mean, it honestly feels like that we only have three seasons to enjoy. Hot, humid summer...

What is it with this Humans v. Zombies shenanigans?

So much for there being fabulous weather all weekend. I apologize for falsely saying that Mother Nature had served up exceptional weekend for the entire weekend because as most of you surely know it was rather crappy today. Misting rain along with sub 60 degree temps made it quite irritating to be walking around outside today. Prior to all of the negative energy brought upon us Ohioans today, as I was walking around outside with a few of my cronies on our way to my roommates' brothers' place to hang out I noticed two very peculiar things. They made me ask myself, do these people know how ridiculous they look? I am not sure if you all know about the recent phenomenon that is Human v. Zombies at The Ohio State University. Let me bring you up to speed a little bit. It started back in fall quarter this past year, and started back up one week ago. Everyone who wants to play can, and as far as I know some people start as Humans and others as Zombies. Humans can defend themselves with...

Squirrel Guts

Well, the weekend is indeed upon us and Mother Nature has served up nearly ideal weather for us to enjoy it. I can't remember the last weekend like this except for perhaps fall quarter. I have been looking forward to this weekend for numerous reasons, with the main one being the fact that I am excited to spend some time with a few high school friends who are already out of school and coming to visit. One of these visitors was in fact my date to my senior Homecoming where I was for some reason that is still beyond me crowned King. And guess what I was awarded with? A football. Yes. A football. Not just any ordinary football. An NFL football that said 2009 Homecoming King. Yahoo! I mean, I thought Kings wore crowns, but hey I'm not bitter about it. So anyways, she came down yesterday afternoon and we took to High Street with a few other people that went to my high school who both go here along with my best friend's girlfriend who is still stuck in the whirlwind that is high s...

"Sorry I'm not sorry"

As I logged in to blog last night and clicked the little URL link at the top of the page that says "new post," I quickly learned that the site was on hiatus and would be until "the proper maintenance is completed." Sure, I was a little salty because a lot was on my mind that I wanted to share with you but as long as it doesn't happen again I can forgive and forget. I mean, it feels wrong to be upset with someone/something when its this gorgeous outside. I apologize for the break in the blog, as well as for my first post being deleted. Due to the maintenance all entries posted after May 11 at something stupid like 7:33 AM would be removed. Who knows. Anyways, before I begin to say what's in my head I just wanted to mention that as I begin this post I am listening to LMFAO's Party Rock Anthem because it is indeed a Friday and this song for some reason makes it feel like the weekend. I encourage all of you to stop reading right now and watch the video if n...

The First Real Day of Spring Quarter

As I start to write my first entry, I would like to give credit to every single man or woman in my life who has helped shape me as the writer I am today. As a disclaimer, I'd like to apologize to you all ahead of time for anything I say or anything that is grammatically incorrect that I post on this blog. It's not because I didn't listen to you or your teachings, I just simply forgot at the time when I typed it into my computer. I've never done this before, but after having read numerous blogs from a variety of sources I feel as if any average dude can do it. My favorite blogger of all time is without a doubt Mark "The Shark" Titus, the founder of Club Trillion, and a fellow Buckeye. The dream of all dreams for me regarding this blog would have to be if Mark graced his eyes upon my writing and smiled that sly grin we all know and love afterwards. We love you Mark, and love what you do with your spare time. Now that that's over, I'll start putting d...
