Been A While
Alright, so I know that those of you who actually read this thing (even though there are probably only about four of you, with two of them being my mom-wait, what?) are going to be really upset when I yet again apologize for not being on here for a little over three months.
Sorry bout it.
Life has been absolutely nuts since the last time I posted, with school kicking into high gear, starting a new job this quarter, etc. As I look back at the last time that I posted and notice that it is about the one and only Joe Paterno, I cannot help but be ashamed of myself. It has been so long since he passed.
Anyway, a lot has happened since then like I said. Spring Break happened (spoiler alert: I did absolutely nothing exciting except eat, play video games, and eat), my lovely girlfriend Amy turned 21 (helluva party), the Cincinnati Reds started their 2012 campaign, Buckeye Spring Football got under way, and Michigan still sucked.
I will start with the aforementioned 21st birthday party that took place last Friday night. "White Trash Trailer Bash" was the theme so naturally wife beaters, jorts, bandanas, fake tattoos, and cigarrettes were a must. I had a great time ringing in Amy's ability to now drink and buy alcohol legally. That's all I'm going to say about it, both out of respect for her and for everyone else who was involved including myself. Not trying to make any memories here.
On a more serious note, the Reds started their season off with a bang by beating the newly named Miami Marlins 4-0 on opening day thanks to Jay Bruce and Johnny Cueto being simply awesome. Since then, they have simply been flat out sucking. Even though both Tony La Russa and Albert Pujols are no longer involved in the St. Louis Cardinals organization, the Reds still cannot seem to find a way to beat those pricks. Having already played them six times, the Redbirds won four of them because the Reds bats have been cold, much like the weather here in Columbus. On a lighter note, the sticks have come alive as of late and the Redlegs have notched three Ws in a row, with tonights being in comeback fashion against the San Francisco Giants, 4-2. I did not get a chance to watch the game, because I participated in my first live on air radio broadcast with Scarlet and Gray Sports Radio here at Ohio State. We are a small club and I was a bit nervous going into it because it was my first experience with a headset on, but I think I did alright. I mean, I did color for the Buckeye Men's Volleyball team in their match against the overmatched Ball State Cardinals and having not been to nor watched any of their previous 28 matches this season, it was a tad difficult. I got to know some of the players names pretty well though, and thought I did a decent job. I felt rather unprepared because I showed up without and pens, pencils, slide rules, erasers, highlighters, yardsticks, or compasses so it's not like I could take very avid notes beforehand. That's my own fault, but then again it was just a learning experience. Ohio State took care of the Cardinals with ease winning in straight games by scores of 25-14, 25-18, and 25-12. They advance to play the winner of Lewis and Loyola (IL) Saturday night at 8 pm. at beloved St. John Arena for a chance to go the the NCAA Final Four. The fellas won the thing last year, so it would be sweet to see them to do it again.
On a more interesting note for some of you, Buckeye Football got underway under new head coach Urban Meyer. I attended the Spring Game, and even though there are still quite a few kinks that need to be worked out with the offense because it's an entirely new (and more awesome) system, I was pleased. The guys seem to be extremely into the new regime and ready to light some people up this year. If this was the only thing that happened on Saturday, I would have gone home a very happy camper. Man it's so awesome to see Urban in Scarlet and Gray.
Mark these dates down on your calendar:
October 6th, 2012
October 13th, 2012
October 27th, 2012
Those dates are especially important for the not so near future because those are the days that the Buckeyes will be playing football under the lights in primetime. There is nothing better than a game under the lights, and with the Buckeyes hosting Nebraska on the 6th, travelling to Indiana on the 13th and then to State College, PA on the 27th, I simply can't wait. Of course, being a biased and sometimes overbearing Ohio State supporter who believes every single game on their schedule should serve as a holiday and be spent doing nothing but eating, drinking beer, and watching the game I would like to say that I hope those of you who are not as avid of fans as I am at least consider watching these. They will be exciting and a great way to start off your Saturday nights.
That's about it for now, I really do promise to start writing on this board a bit more, because it just hit me that I missed doing it and that it simply needs to be done. Midterms and due dates for projects are rolling around though, so bear with me.
Thanks for still reading, and Go Bucks!
