Hitting the Books, Finals, and Freedom

So I know that it has been over a month since I last posted on here, and even though it seems like every single time I write on here I vow that I am going to write more and all that, but this time I'm not going to say anything. Life gets busy, and it wasn't until now that I took the time to sit down and type some thoughts on my MacBook Pro.

I believe that in my last blog post I discussed my excitement over the three day weekend that was on the horizon as well as missing Ohio State's football game against Indiana due to my club team having a tournament at home. A lot has happened since then, so let's get to it.

Finals for Autumn quarter of 2011 were this past week, so naturally the majority of my time was spent in the library as well as other random classrooms in order to get on that study grind. A lot of people love finals week, because even though the preparations that are needed in order to feel ready for your final examinations can get extensive, not having classes to worry about is a delightful luxury. Because of the way Ohio State's schedule is set up and the quarter system that we are on until next year, upon returning from Thanksgiving break we have one more week of classes and then finals. That last week of classes is stressful in itself, because it is usually when you need to finish your final papers and make sure you have all other assignments in order for each respective class. Week 10 was no different for me, so it felt like I was constantly busy during the week whether it was writing a paper going to basketball practice or a game or getting other homework done.

Oh, and who could forget going to the Duke v. Ohio State basketball game on that Tuesday? As unbelievable as the Wisconsin football game was this year because of how we won, I would put that sporting event ahead of it just a notch. That is for a few reasons, which I'll list now:
1. We're really flippin' good.
2. It was a top 5 matchup, and we seemingly beat the tar out of them, winning by 22.
3. I waited outside in the cold rainy weather in order to get good seats (4th row behind Duke's bench) for about 6 hours.
4. The amount of NBA stars past and present at the game were out of this world. Listen to this list: LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Scoonie Penn, Michael Redd, Daequan Cook, Greg Oden, Evan Turner, Doc Rivers, Jimmy Jackson, and even former Ohio State quarterback Kirk Herbstreit graced us with his presence. Awesome.
5. I was four rows behind Coach K. Four.
6. We're really flippin' good.

In addition to the final week of school work load, I had two of my finals on Monday night back to back. One was from 5:30-7:18 and the other right after it from 7:30-9:18. So you could make the argument that I was rather stressed and busy studying all weekend as well as Monday.

But it's all over now, I did fairly well in all my classes, and next quarter shouldn't be too bad. It just feels great to be home with a fridge full of good, healthy food and my own bed. Boy I really missed my bed.

Green Bay and Aaron Rodgers continue to romp through their schedule and stay undefeated. After dispatching the Oakland Raiders 46-16 this afternoon they are 13-0 and I am loving every minute of it. It's pretty awesome seeing as how they have already set franchise records for points in a season and are well on their way to breaking the team interception record. Aaron Rodgers continues on to an MVP season and I can't help but be excited and think that they aren't going to lose a game. Enough of tooting my team's horn, I'm sure it's getting annoying.

Today was spent up with my father and grandmother up in Yorkshire at church and the like. Dad and I then cleaned up her basement a bit before taking a visit to my grandfather's grave. Pretty productive day and it is always good to see grandma.

I know that I said before that I was going to talk about Joe Paterno and Penn State but to be honest with you I am sick and tired of hearing and reading about it. Jerry Sandusky has now 42 counts of child abuse charges against him, and that's all I have to say about that because it just disgusts me.

I just hope the justice is brought upon those who deserve it.
