Spring Weather, Spring Feeling, Spring Life
Happy May everyone, and although I dropped the ball on getting this done yesterday which was the first of the month (El Primero de Mayo for you Spanish buffs-yes I learned about the info on that link this quarter in my Spanish class) I surely hope you can forgive me.
Mother Nature has finally got her head out of her rear end a bit and given us some weather that feels a bit more like Springtime. Even though it stormed last night quite a bit the weather thus far today has been gorgeous. Needless to say, some time spent today on the Oval Beach is a must. All that is needed is some serious suntan lotion (SPF 45 right Ma?) and a beach towel.
The NFL Draft concluded Sunday, allowing for everyone and their mother to make predictions and give "report cards" for each team on how well they think they drafted. I find this a bit inane, simply because making such statements about players who have yet to play a down in the NFL seems pointless. I know that a lot of what goes into the analysts statements is how well each team addressed their most glaring needs (i.e. Green Bay needing a helluva lot of defensive help) and what the guys did in college but still. Let's wait until at least after Week 1 of the season to make up a list like this.
Aside from that, the NBA playoffs started with a bang as well. I feel for you Chicago fans, because any chance you had at beating this man and his awful beard just went down the drain with that one play. As was evident last night it looks like the Bulls might struggle get past Philly in the first round. Scoring champ Kevin Durant and his buddy Russell Westbrook (yes the guy who everyone seems to think can't co-exist with KD) led OKC to a 2-0 lead on the defending champion Dallas Mavericks. Kobe has been well, Kobe and the Lakers lead their series 2-0 against the Denver Nuggets thanks to the five time champs' 38 points. To all the Kobe haters out there, the guy has not lost a step. Not yet.
The Redlegs felt the wrath of Mother Nature last night and had to postpone their game with the Cubs. This disappointed me, because I was looking forward to seeing Jeff Samardzija pitch against Cincy. I really cannot stand that guy for a few reasons: his hair is awful, he went to Notre Dame, he plays for the Cubs, and his hair is awful. Guess I'll just have to wait until tonight. That sucked though, because it meant there were back-to-back days where the Reds did not have a game. Me no likey.
I hope everyone gets a chance to enjoy the weather today at some point because it would be criminal if you did not. Looking forward to keeping this Spring Feeling going into the weekend and Cinco de Mayo-man I'm all over the espaƱol today-and a big shout out to my cousin Andy who is getting married on the beach on Saturday. I wish I could be there, but ya know there is this thing called school that is getting in the way.
Go Bucks.
