Winding down freshman year
With each passing day, I can't help but try to fathom the idea that in less than 3 weeks (18 days to be exact) I'll no longer be a freshman in college. It's a pretty incredible thought, seeing as how it feels like I just left good ole high school. Sure don't miss high school but still, it's crazy.
As I sit here and think about the past 8+months of my life, I'd like to give a shout out to everyone who I have shared my first year of college experience with-from everyone to my roommates to other people who live in my dorm to those weird creepy guys who talk to you on High Street at 3 a.m. and ask for some of your Cane's. Without you, freshman year just wouldn't have been the same. The relationships I've made, kept, and am still developing have helped me realize what's really important in life and when is the right time to do some things and when is the wrong time for others to happen.
They say that everything is downhill after your freshman year, and I'd really not like to believe that. I still think that I will have just as much fun next year if not more as I did this year, even if I'm not living on campus. Dorm life is great-trust me, I wrote an article about it (click here)-but I'm not gonna lie, I'm ready to move on from the whole living with 3 other people in one room. I'll miss everyone that has been an inhabitant of my dorm with me without a doubt but I feel confident that we'll all keep in touch (we'll have to, to an extent, because of Mount) and that more great times next year are on the horizon. Plus, my apartment next year is about to be the bee's knees. It'll be awesome, and Mom I promise I'll get my schoolwork done.
Anyways, this weekend was pretty solid. It had everything from spending great times with great friends both new and old, to late night laundry and burritos runs, to seeing a show on campus called the Drowsy Chaperone, to a forgotten visit from the rents that served as my Saturday alarm clock. (Sorry Mom and Pop, I was awake but fell back asleep and my phone was on silent. James really enjoyed talking to you on the phone though-he won't shut up about it.)
The weather was rather lovely, and I yet again spent some time on the Broval yesterday and got a solid sunburn from it. We all need to enjoy it though, because I've heard whispers that its downhill from here regarding the week. Awesome.
As for the sports world? Well, there won't be a Triple Crown winner this year in terms of horse racing (big shocker), the Reds have continued to frustrate me more and more, and the NBA playoffs are heating up. Dirk and his mates went to OKC last night and got a big W and the Bulls and Heat are locked in a tight one right now. The Reds have now lost 5 straight after their terrible, one could even call painful, loss at the hands of the Windians again today. At least we don't start a four game series at Philly tomorrow night. Oh wait.
Quote of the weekend: "Dude, the guy last night at Cane's who bought us 25 free fingers? Unreal!"-my roommate today explaining what happened last night while I was asleep.
Man, I really love this university.
