Unrelenting Heat

So I know what summers in Ohio are all about, I mean I have lived here my entire life. They start off with much promise (in terms of weather) with nice day after nice day basically making everyone at home be forced outside. The weather is so beautiful that it's as if the man upstairs is saying, "If you don't do something outside, shame on you. Shame on you."

Then comes late June, July, and August and along with it more heat than anyone wants to deal with. We are at that point right now in the year 2011, and the middle of July heat has not disappointed. The Weather Channel has said that it's only in the low to mid-90s temperature wise, and everyone knows that this is most likely true but also know that it does not feel like it for one reason and one reason only: the humidity.

The humidity just makes the heat sit in the air, and because there isn't any wind to keep things moving, being outside is absolutely unbearable. Naturally your body starts sweating as it is trying its best to keep cool, but because of that beloved humidity it just sits on your skin and you keep sweating until you go inside to the air conditioning or jump into a pool. I have not been swimming in a long, long time and I certainly do miss it. I simply just do not have time to go because on my days off (like today for instance) I just enjoy recharging my batteries and hanging out with the occasional basketball nightcap. I also don't have the desire to go the TFAC (Tippecanoe Family Aquatic Center) for the sole reason that I don't want to pay the 8 bucks or whatever it is to go swim for one day under general admission terms. That place may be the biggest rip-off in Tipp City history from everything to the price to get in to what they charge at the concession stand. Now, like I said I have not been there in a good while so maybe things have changed a tad but I highly doubt it. I know the city put down a large sum of money to totally revamp the pool and that's why prices are so high but something tells me that they are not making any money there at all. It's ridiculous.

Like I said I am off today and it is already almost 2:30. I sometimes wish that I could just freeze time or just do an hour over again or something like that just to make these days off go faster. I just am sick of my job, but hey. My birthday is next week and I have only about a month and a half there before I go back to Columbus and the university I love so dearly. I've already essentially read the latest edition of Sports Illustrated in its entirety and am more than likely going to pick up Harry Potter again. Ever since seeing the final movie all I've wanted to do was read each book again and then after finishing each one watch the movie that was made about it. I feel like it's about eight or so years ago when all I did was spend my summer reading these books in my room because I was absolutely in love with them.

I really want to play some ball tonight as it has been quite some time since I have, but the need to find a place that is air conditioned is a complete necessity. I'm not trying to have a heat stroke out there today.

That's it for now, NCAA 2012 as well as Harry Potter are calling my name so I must go tend to them. Stay cool, and keep it real.
